What’s New in Microsoft Copilot Studio

Microsoft Copilot Studio continues to evolve with powerful new features that make it easier to build, test, and scale high-quality AI agents across your organization.

1. Smarter, Scalable Agent Testing (Public Preview)

Agent quality evaluation just got a major upgrade. Makers can now create large-scale test sets, automate validation, and measure accuracy with advanced graders like:

  • Exact match / partial match
  • Intent and semantic similarity
  • AI-based checks for relevance, completeness, and groundedness

You can upload your own test cases, reuse Test Pane queries, or generate new ones instantly using AI. Every run gives clear pass/fail results and detailed scoring helping teams catch gaps early and improve confidently before publishing.

2. Updated AI Models for Better Performance

Copilot Studio now uses GPT-4.1 as the default model for new agents, offering faster responses and higher accuracy.

GPT-5 models (Auto, Chat, Reasoning) are also available in preview for advanced scenarios requiring deeper reasoning and more natural conversations.

3.Faster Flow Execution with Express Mode (Preview)

New Express Mode speeds up logic-heavy agent flows so they complete within two minutes—reducing timeout issues. It’s ideal for lightweight logic and simple data operations.

4. File Upload Support in Omnichannel Conversations

Users can now upload files (images, PDFs, receipts, etc.) directly in chat. Agents can analyze these in real time, enabling richer customer service scenarios and faster issue resolution.

5. Model Context Protocol (MCP) Resources

Agents can now access external files, API responses, or database records via MCP resources. This gives conversations more context and ensures agents always use the latest information.

6. Clear ROI Tracking for All Agents

Organizations can measure time and cost savings directly inside Copilot Studio. Define how much each interaction saves, and the analytics dashboard aggregates the impact automatically.

7. Theme-Based Insights for User Questions

Copilot Studio now groups user queries into smart themes, helping teams understand trends, identify coverage gaps, and improve content where users need it most.

8. Faster Debugging with an Improved Activity Map

A unified view of transcripts, reasoning, and activity data makes troubleshooting much easier. Makers can now quickly see how the agent interpreted a request and why it responded the way it did.

9. Better Governance for Agent Sharing

Admins can control who is allowed to share Copilot Studio agents across the organization—ensuring compliance and preventing accidental oversharing.
